Project Description:
Park Laurel is a high-rise residential structure, with subgrade parking. To enable safe excavation adjacent to city streets, Schnabel Foundation Company designed and installed 21,000 sf of soil nail shoring. During the design phase, the contractor provided Schnabel with the surcharge loading that would be applied by concrete pump outriggers during concrete construction. Schnabel designed and installed drilled piers to support this surcharge below the subgrade level, and thereby eliminated the load on the shoring.
