As part of an expansion to the existing jail, Schnabel designed and installed 34,300 square feet of soldier beam lagging shoring, with 118 pressure-injected tiebacks. A portion of the shoring was built using internal bracing, to facilitate excavation for a cut and cover tunnel connecting the new jail to the existing facility on the opposite side of the street.
In addition to shoring the tunnel area, Schnabel Foundation Company designed and constructed support for 17 existing utility crossings. Work was performed safely, ahead of schedule and under budget.
