As part of the revitalization of downtown Napa, California, a new mixed-use building with underground parking was proposed up against the Napa River. Schnabel Foundation Company installed 237 tiebacks through the overlaying alluvial deposits to the old river rock using modified tieback procedures.
Originally, the job was planned for two tieback rigs, but the modified tieback method allowed Schnabel to use one tieback rig to meet the GC's schedule. Schnabel also used outrigger pile caps to allow the GC to erect pedestal tower cranes and pump trucks up against the temporary shoring.
