MICROPILE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
As a trusted micropile construction company, Schnabel specializes in delivering reliable structural support solutions in some of the most challenging and demanding environments across the globe.
Micropiles are small-diameter piles that are designed to transfer loads from weaker ground to stronger, more stable layers of soil or bedrock. They are particularly effective in situations where other deep foundation systems are impractical due to limited access, low clearance, or difficult drilling conditions.
Thanks to their ability to be installed using compact drilling equipment, micropiles offer a cost-efficient foundation solution for projects in tight spaces—whether inside existing buildings, beneath bridges, or in other restricted-access or low-clearance locations.
No matter the environment or operational challenges, Schnabel has the expertise to deliver the perfect foundation support system tailored to meet your unique project needs.
Micropile Construction Solutions
Micropiles are small-diameter, deep foundation piles, typically 12 inches or less in diameter. As a leading micropile construction company, Schnabel offers cutting-edge drilling technology, including specialized equipment that can pass through standard doorways and drill under 8-foot ceilings.
Often utilized to stabilize and underpin existing structures, micropiles can be installed from within the building itself. Their installation generates less vibration compared to traditional deep foundation systems, making them ideal for sensitive sites. Additionally, micropiles are perfect for situations where natural or man-made obstructions are present. The advanced drill systems used for micropile construction are capable of penetrating cobbles, boulders, and other barriers far more effectively than conventional pile systems.
The typical allowable load for micropiles ranges from 20 to 200 kips, though Schnabel has successfully installed and tested micropiles supporting loads up to 1,200 kips.
Micropile construction relies on small-diameter piles to transfer loads to more stable underlying soil or rock layers. Even in the most challenging drilling environments, such as landslide debris, Schnabel has used micropiles as soldier beams in permanent tieback wall projects. In areas with limited access or difficult subsurface conditions, micropiles often provide a more cost-efficient solution for new construction projects.
With decades of experience in micropile installation, Schnabel is uniquely equipped to offer the most cost-effective and reliable micropile construction solutions for your project.
We take pride in delivering efficient, safe solutions from sub-surface to street level.
NCDOT contracted Schnabel to design and build a repair that would keep this important interstate open and reestablish the eastbound lane. This successful project was completed during the coldest months of the year and within the timeframe established by the State of North Carolina.
