Schnabel Geostructural Design & Construction was selected to design and build a permanent earth retention system that would allow safe excavation and long-term slope stability. The team engineered and installed a permanent tieback wall along the hillside to stabilize the ground and prevent movement. Steel soldier piles were drilled deep into the subsurface, extending at least 12 feet below the identified slide plane, which was as deep as 36 feet below the bottom of the wall. Permanent double-corrosion-protected tiebacks were installed through the soldier beams and anchored below the slide plane. Finally, a durable shotcrete facing was applied to complete the structure and provide both structural integrity and an aesthetically clean finish.
