PROVO CANYO | PROVO CANYON, UTAH

City: Provo Canyon
State: Utah
Owner: Utah Department of Transportation
General Contractor: Ames Construction

Project Description:
To stabilize a potential landslide which could be triggered by a cut for a new roadway alignment, Schnabel installed 208 encapsulated 14-strand anchors in a side hill cut in Provo, Utah.  The anchors have a design load of 400 kips and an average installed length of 160 feet.  The anchors had to be longer to make sure they were anchored behind any potential failure planes.

In addition to the landslide anchors, Schnabel installed over 250,000 linear feet of soil and rock nails for cut retaining walls in the canyon.
